Pool Pump Repair in Riverside, CA
A pump that won’t prime or leaves a puddle on the equipment pad is not a reason to buy a new pump. Most of the time it’s a seal, a set of bearings or a capacitor, and we fix those on the spot.
We’ll tell you when it’s not worth fixing.

Most Riverside pool pumps aren't dead. They need one part.
Pool pump repair in Riverside, CA is most of what our repair calls are, and most of those pumps are not dead. They have a shaft seal that gave up or bearings that started grinding. We have been on the equipment pads of Riverside backyards for over ten years, from the Wood Streets out to Orangecrest, and the pattern rarely changes: the pump ran dry once, or ran hot all summer, and one part failed. Fix that part and the pump goes another five years.

Leaking or won't prime? Call before it turns into a motor job.

Getting a Pump Fixed Takes One Call
Describe the noise or the leak on the phone. We can usually tell you what it is before we arrive.
Leaking, grinding, humming, or won't prime. That's usually enough to know the part.
Ten minutes with the housing off and we know for sure. No guessing, no upsell.
We carry seals, bearings and capacitors for the common models. Motors and drive boards can take a couple of days.
What Riverside Customers Say

Most of our customers came from a neighbour telling them about us. That is the only kind of advertising that has ever really worked for a pool company, so we take it seriously.

Why Riverside Homeowners Stay With Us
We have run pool routes across Riverside and San Bernardino counties for over ten years. That is long enough to know a shaded pool in Canyon Crest needs a different routine than an open one in Orangecrest, and long enough to have seen what our hard water does to a pump nobody looked at. Over a hundred local homeowners are on our routes. The five star rating came from them.

Not a rotating crew. The person who knows your pool is the person who shows up.
Pools break at inconvenient times. Call (951) 577-1195 and you get a person, not a call centre.
Is your pool pump broken, or just struggling?
Before you call anyone, it helps to know what the pump is telling you.
It won’t prime. Water isn’t reaching the pump. Usually that’s air getting in on the suction side: a cracked lid, a dried-out lid o-ring, a loose union, or the water level dropped below the skimmer. Check the basket lid first. If it’s cracked or the o-ring is flat, that’s your problem and it’s a cheap one.
It’s leaking. A drip from underneath, where the motor meets the wet end, is a shaft seal. That is the single most common pool pump repair there is, and it’s the one to catch early. Run a pump with a bad seal and water gets into the motor bearings. Then you’re replacing the motor instead of a seal.
It’s screaming or grinding. Bearings. Shut it off. A pump that screams can usually still be saved today. A pump that’s been screaming for a week often can’t, because the heat has cooked the windings.
It hums but won’t start. Almost always the capacitor, a part about the size of a battery. Occasionally it’s a seized motor. We can tell which in about two minutes.
What we repair on Riverside pool pumps
We repair. We don’t just replace. That matters, because plenty of companies quote a new pump for a seal leak.
Shaft seals and gaskets. The leak fix. We carry seals for the common Hayward, Pentair and Jandy models.
Motor bearings. The grinding fix. Bearings are replaceable on most single-speed motors.
Capacitors. The hums-but-won’t-start fix, and the cheapest repair on this list.
Impellers and diffusers. If the pump runs but moves very little water, the impeller is probably clogged or worn. Riverside’s debris load clogs impellers more than most places.
Priming problems. Lid o-rings, union o-rings, cracked lids, suction-side air leaks.
Variable-speed drive faults. Modern variable-speed pumps have a drive board. When it throws an error code it’s usually the board or a sensor, not the motor.
Hayward, Pentair, Jandy and Zodiac pumps
Those four brands are on nearly every equipment pad in Riverside, and we work on them every week. Hayward Super Pumps and TriStars. Pentair WhisperFlos, SuperFlos and IntelliFlos. Jandy FloPros and Stealths. The Zodiac range. Because we see the same pumps over and over, we usually know the fault before the housing comes off, and we don’t spend your money guessing.
Why pumps fail faster in Riverside
Riverside is hard on pumps, and none of it is the pump’s fault.
The heat is the obvious one. A pump running eight to twelve hours a day through a 100-degree August is working harder than the same pump in a milder climate, and heat is what kills seals and windings.
Then there’s the water. Riverside’s is hard, and as your pool evaporates it leaves calcium behind. That scales up the seal faces and shortens their life.
And the Santa Ana winds dump dust and leaves into every pool in the county. Clogged baskets, strained impellers, and pumps running against a blockage until something gives.
If your pump is more than a few years old and has never had a seal, it’s due.
Pool pump repair cost in Riverside
We quote after we’ve seen it, because the price depends entirely on which part failed. Roughly, from cheapest to most expensive:
Capacitors and o-rings. The cheap end. A capacitor is a small part and a short job. Lid and union o-rings are cheaper still.
Shaft seals. Still on the low side, and the repair we do most. Caught early it’s a seal and an hour. Caught late, see the next line.
Bearings. Mid-range. The motor comes apart, the old bearings get pressed out and new ones pressed in. More labour than a seal, but a fraction of a motor.
Motor replacement. The expensive end of repair. Burnt windings can’t be fixed, so the motor gets replaced as a unit while the rest of the pump stays.
Variable-speed drive boards. Also at the expensive end, because the board is the brains of the pump and it isn’t cheap.
What we won’t do is quote you a new pump for a seal leak. If the fix is a seal or bearings, we fix it. If the motor is cooked on a single-speed pump that’s past ten years old, we’ll tell you straight and point you at our pool pump installation page, because at that point a new variable-speed unit costs less to run than the old one costs to keep.

Pool Pump Repair Questions
Straight answers to what Riverside pool owners ask us most about pump repairs. If yours isn’t here, call and ask.
It depends on the part. O-rings and capacitors are the cheap end, seals are close behind, bearings are mid-range, and a motor or a drive board is the expensive end. We tell you the number before we start, not after.
Often, yes. Check that the water level is above the skimmer, the pump basket is clean, and the lid o-ring is soft and seated. If all three are fine and it still won't prime, there's an air leak on the suction side, and that's when to call.
Urgent enough to call this week. A leaking shaft seal is cheap to fix. A shaft seal that's leaked into the motor bearings is not.
No. Turn it off. Grinding is bearings, and every hour it runs hot brings the motor closer to failure. Fixed today it's a bearing job. Fixed next week it may be a motor.
Both, depending on what's wrong. Bearings and seals on a motor that's otherwise sound get replaced and the motor goes back on. Burnt windings can't be repaired, so that motor gets swapped for a new one and the wet end of the pump stays.
Hayward, Pentair, Jandy and Zodiac, which between them are almost everything on Riverside equipment pads. We work on other brands too, but those four we know inside out.
Yes. Jurupa Valley, Grand Terrace, Woodcrest, Orangecrest and Lake Mathews are all on our regular routes, and we go further for repairs. Call and ask.
Seals, bearings and capacitors are usually a single visit. A motor or a drive board sometimes has to be ordered, which adds a couple of days.
