Pool service in Woodcrest is mostly about scale

Pool service in Woodcrest, CA is mostly about scale. The lots are bigger, so the pools are bigger, so everything takes longer and costs a little more to run. Woodcrest is unincorporated county, spread out south of Riverside between Van Buren Boulevard and the hills toward Lake Mathews, and it was built for people who wanted room. That room comes with a pool that’s often 20,000 gallons or more, a long run of plumbing to the pad, and a yard that catches every bit of wind and dust that comes over the ridge. Pool Time has run Woodcrest routes for over ten years, and we size the visit to the pool, not to a suburban average.

A big pool is a big chore. Give it to someone who does it all day.

Bigger lots, bigger pools, more work per visit

A 12,000-gallon tract pool in Orangecrest and a 25,000-gallon freeform on Krameria are not the same job, and a company that prices them the same is cutting corners on one of them. A larger pool takes more chemical to move the numbers, more time to brush, and a larger filter that needs more attention. Long plumbing runs mean the pump works harder, and on a lot of Woodcrest properties the pad is a good walk from the pool, which is where suction leaks like to hide.

So a Woodcrest visit is a longer visit. Skim, brush the whole perimeter, vacuum, empty baskets, test and balance, and then a real look at the equipment, because on a big pool a pump that’s losing prime is a big pool going green.

Well water, and what it does to a pool

Plenty of Woodcrest properties are on private wells, and even the ones on district water are drawing hard groundwater. Well water can carry iron and manganese along with the calcium. Iron shows up as rust-colored staining on the steps and plaster after a fill or a top-off, and manganese turns the water a tea color that people mistake for algae.

If your pool is on a well, tell us. We treat fills with a sequestrant to keep metals in solution instead of on your plaster, and we run calcium hardness on every visit because well water can push it up faster than city water. When a pool comes to us already stained, we’ll tell you whether it’s a chemical fix or whether it needs an acid wash to reset it.

What a Woodcrest visit includes

You pick Chemical-Only or Full Service. Chemical-Only from $100 a month covers the water test, balancing, baskets and the equipment check while you handle the physical cleaning. Full Service from $170 a month and we handle everything. On a Woodcrest-sized pool, we’ll be honest: Full Service is the right answer for almost everyone, because brushing the full perimeter of a big pool every week is the chore people stop doing first.

Both plans include filter cleaning twice a year and both are month to month. Repairs on Hayward, Pentair, Jandy and Zodiac equipment are handled separately, from pool pump repair to heaters, and if the pool has already turned, a green-to-clean comes first.

Most of our customers came from a neighbor telling them about us. That is the only kind of advertising that has ever really worked for a pool company, so we take it seriously.

Woodcrest pool service questions

Straight answers to what Woodcrest pool owners ask us most. If yours isn’t here, call and ask.

Yes. A 25,000-gallon pool takes more chemical and more time than a 12,000-gallon one. Full Service from $170 a month is the starting point; a big Woodcrest pool sits higher in the range. We'll quote it honestly.

No, that's iron. Well water carries metals that drop out onto plaster. A sequestrant on fills prevents it. Existing stains sometimes lift chemically, sometimes need an acid wash.

Usually manganese from well water, not algae. Same treatment as iron: sequestrant and filtration.

Only for finding leaks. Long suction runs are where air gets in, and a pump losing prime on a big pool is how a big pool goes green. It's the first thing we check.

No. A gate we can open is enough. We leave a note or send an update.

Twice a year on both plans, and we watch the gauge every visit. Dusty Woodcrest lots sometimes need it more often, and we'll tell you if yours does.
